And I’m not like many other people.
As a fierce INTP, my natural personality traits are found in 3% of the population.
Depending on which profile you read, this describes me as a dreamy professor, an ingenious problem solver, the logician, an innovation architect; or the decidedly more badass, your secret weapon.
My creative problem-solving mind is captivated by the promise of innovation, the challenge of marketing, the process of experience design and the messiness of learning.
“People don’t buy products or services. They buy better versions of themselves.”
I love this classic marketing quote because this speaks to the power of brand. My mission is simple: To enable people to be better marketers–for their personal brand and for the brand they work on.
I’m a Professor of Marketing and Digital Media, and Head of the Digital Media Marketing postgraduate program at George Brown College in Toronto.
I also consult as a Learning Experience Designer and Instructor to the Canadian Marketing Association on their industry-leading Digital Analytics course.
Since 2015, I’ve enabled 100’s of people to be more confident marketers through my courses, workshops and speaking engagements. My next goal is to 10x this impact!
My marketing journey began in 2004–when the Internet was called the World Wide Web, the year Google went public and when Facebook launched.
It started in Ottawa, Canada as an account executive at Acart Communications. I mainly worked with Government of Canada clients to plan integrated marketing communication campaigns that used both online and traditional media and manage web 1.0 site builds.
After completing an MBA in Sydney Australia, I moved to Toronto, Canada in 2007 and started in brand management at General Mills.
From 2007-2015, I developed brand marketing and digital media programs across industries with organizations of all sizes–General Mills, Evergreen Canada and Evergreen Brick Works, Intrepid Group, Merit Travel Group, Government of Canada and consulting to SMBs.
In 2015, I pivoted to focus more on learning experience design, creating learning content and facilitating courses for people who want to be better at marketing their brand–which I do for George Brown College and the Canadian Marketing Association.
Milestones along the way
I earned an MBA in Marketing from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) in Sydney, Australia; and a BA (Hons) in Mass Communication from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
I’m proud to be one the first 20 people in Canada to earn the Chartered Marketer (CM) designation from the Canadian Marketing Association for my commitment to professional excellence in the craft of marketing for myself–and enabling others to do the same.
I’ve also won awards for marketing innovation, content marketing and marketing mentoring.
If you think my INTP-ingenious problem solver-secret weapon-ness could help build your, your employees or your members marketing literacy; it would be great to hear from you!
My areas of specialization are learning experience design, personal branding, marketing strategy and analytics, content marketing and social media marketing.
